Second Hand Sweep

Second Hand Sweep (Randyjw; December 21, 2016)

Second hand sweep

It came like a thief

Take your time, it said

Linger with your grief

Curl up in your bed

Beneath covers in sleep

You won’t really mind

the exchange for your keep

Make sure not to blink

Or to act much surprised

in the depths of your sink

when you open your eyes

Can you remember it well?

Have you any recall?

From the moment you fell

Any memory at all?

Such a shame to fall prey

to time’s ultimate question

I regret I must say

those hands don’t change direction
