Beneath the Banyan

Beneath the Banyan (Randyjw; January 24, 2017)

Have you ever seen a banyan

of those great majestic trees

when the footed roots of its system

has been toppled head over heels

Its flailing arms and hulking girth

upended by their owner

when grasped no more by shallow earth

that wind might push it over

Like Einstein with his billowed hair

and seasons wintered grey

the morning dew its pillow bears

each limb in whispered spray
